In Courage to Stand, Pawlenty reveals, for the first time, how he found the resolve to get the job done, taking readers all the way back to the lessons he learned as a boy in the gritty meatpacking town of South St. Paul.
We're all products of where we come from and how we're raised. For me, that was growing up with a tight knit family in a blue-collar, meatpacking town in Minnesota. We faced a lot of challenges, but with the support of family and friends, I went on to be Governor of my state for two terms.
Minnesota is a liberal state, but I governed as a conservative, successfully getting spending under control without raising taxes, passing nation-leading education reform, and instituting market-based health-care reforms.
When you overcome challenges, tee up big change and survive tough battles, you learn some things. This book is about those lessons, and how they can be used to help solve problems facing other people and our nation.

I like what I heard from you,but I've only got to listen to a couple of your interviews. I have been working in the Mining industry for the last 35 years, started when I was 19, married for 34 yrs. and still in the process of raising 4 children, teaching them as I was taught, God first, then family, and always work hard to give the very best you have to all three. Be proud in a humble way that your an American, Head to toe, Love everyone, as Christ Loved you. Our Country was founded on these very values, I'm sorry for being so busy I didn't speak out, like thousands of others, so busy working hard and raising our families. We have let a few, not only hurt our Country, but take it competely over and have started riping the foundation in which it was founded on totally apart. Just like thousands of others, just never thought our GREAT Country would fall, are be taken over by Godless people. When you let a small group of people, take GOD out of this Country, You have let them take away any hope, not only for you, but your children, If you my friend will stay Faithful and let God lead you, to return this Great Nation around to HIS way, you will not only be BLESSED, but once again live in a BLESSED Country, Stay strong in HIM, and watch what He does through you. GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER.

I agree with VSC. Why not be up front and not so coy about what is motivating the production and publishing of this book? We all know what's going on. Why the game? Tim is a good leader and I agree with his political stance, but he should have the "Courage to Stand Up and say; 'I'm Tim Pawlenty, and I want to be your next President.' "

You know, this is all well done and fine, but it's clear that there is specific goal in his mind: start positioning himself as a presidential contender. No problem with that. But wouldn't be more genuine if he says so up front? kind of "i wanted to write this book and make this little patriotic presentation so people can know me better as a potential candidate for president of the USA". That would come across super honest and not kind of laughable and fake as is now.

Tim Pawlenty is a real testimony to the greatness of the American republican constitutional form of government. He is a reminder that we need to fight for the right to save our nation from the transformation of Hope and Change envisaged by Obama and the progressive socialists.

when the folks we elected to DC won't listen, then it is time to help them hear us. They wouldn't exist but for us and they need to know that. We are not little children to be told "be quiet", "be still" let the grown ups do their stuff. NO WAY.

AS a brother in Christ I think you are on the right track. We must do the things that shows the world how to live for Jesus Christ. He is the only that can lead us out of the financial crisis we are in today. Changes must be made for we the people. Our government has been looking back and do the same old things, but we must have leaders who look to the future. Congress looks out for it's self NOT WE THE PEOPLE. KEEP UP YOUR COURAGE. Hang in there.

I think it's a great idea for the congress men and women to do their own taxes. How about having them find their own medical insurance?

Governor Pawlenty is another example of post traumatic growth--his mom died when he was only 15. Life shines on. WWW.lifeshineson.com
